Community Rides Kick-Off

The 29th of October was a beautiful Fall day, and it was already perfectly warm at 10 am when we met up for our first community bike ride. “Move! Healdsburg” had planned this for a long time, and we were thrilled to see 40 riders, mostly families with kids, show up at City Hall. We rode from City Hall to the Plaza, then around the traffic circle, before taking the Foss Creek Pathway to the Community Center. With this and our future rides we want to offer safe and family friendly rides through our neighborhoods. We will always have road guides with us who make sure that we get safely through intersections and that nobody is left behind.

We also want to make the rides fun and social. On this Sunday, we stopped at the Community Center for coffee and hot chocolate, Halloween-themed baked goods and mandarins. One tandem bike was even “ridden” by a skeleton – with a helmet, of course! Kids had access to the playground, and we spent about a half hour there hanging out and chatting. Just as the Dia de los Muertos festivities were about to begin at the Plaza, we were back at City Hall.

It was a great kick-off to our planned series of monthly bike rides. Every ride will explore different parts of town and have a different flavor.

Our next ride on December 1 will be festive and will lead us through low-traffic city streets to enjoy the Christmas decorations, stopping at the Plaza for the annual tree lighting ceremony and Holiday Market. Please join us for a joyful ride!
