First Ride of 2025!

Following up on the success of our first ride into Dry Creek Valley last October, nearly 30 riders joined Move! Healdsburg for a great 14+ mile community ride today.

There were many who had not ridden with us before, but who were on our general mailing list and some who had heard of our group through a friend, but were brand new to the group. Maggie deserves a special congratulations for joining us as a first-time bike rider!

The weather was a bit shaky at the start – cloudy and cold. On Lytton Springs Road, it started to drizzle, but the rain never got heavy and no one bailed. We stopped at the Dry Creek General Store for snacks and coffee, waited for the sun to come out, then headed back to town in the sunshine along West Dry Creek Road. That last part of the ride was glorious – West Dry Creek Road never disappoints.

There was a lot of enthusiasm for scheduling longer rides like this one in the future and sooner rather than later, so the Move! leadership team will be working on that.

Thank you Brian for providing snacks at the Dry Creek General Store. Thank you to Getaway Adventures for free bike rentals for participants, as well as for providing sag support (Holly) and contributing ride guide leadership (Randy and Gwen). Thank you Norm for being everywhere and for taking pictures. And thank you Judy for organizing the ride.

If anyone has ideas for future community walks or rides, please send an email to: admin@movehealdsburg.org. Community walk ideas in the planning include the Riddell Preserve and the “Alleys of Healdsburg”, and a ride to Geyserville is also in the works.
